12-year-old seriously injured in multi-vehicle I-75 crash
BONITA SPRINGS, Fla. – A 12-year-old Hialeah girl was seriously injured after a crash involving four vehicles shut down northbound lanes of I-75 near the Bonita Beach Road exit Monday.
A van driven by a 57-year-old Tampa man carrying seven passengers including the child rear-ended a pickup truck that had slowed due to traffic in the area just before 5 p.m., according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash caused the pickup truck to hit a Sedan before crashing into a guard rail, troopers said.
The van then hit a cable barrier.
Troopers said, the debris from the crash also hit another Sedan before all four vehicles stopped.
Out of the 11 people involved two were uninjured, eight suffered only minor injuries, and one was seriously injured, investigators said.
