Cameras capture attempted kidnapping in San Carlos Park, mom says

SAN CARLOS PARK, Fla. – Two girls playing outside of their San Carlos Park home were nearly kidnapped on Thursday evening, their mother says.

It happened on Sebring Lane just after 7:15 p.m.

Security cameras at the home captured the moment a silver SUV drove down the street, stopped, and reversed to the driveway the kids, just 12 and 2 years old, were playing in.

The older sister, Bailey Davis, jumped into action and ran inside. Their mother, Emily Davis, just went inside moments before to use the bathroom.

“A minute I was in the house, that’s how fast stuff like that can happen,” she said. “When we watched it I felt sick to my stomach.”

After watching and hearing what Bailey had to say, the mom called 911.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office is now investigating. While they tell her it’s “definitely suspicious,” they’re not sure it was an attempted kidnapping.

“You just got to remember that if you see something suspicious, go inside, just trust your gut,” said Bailey Davis.
