Drunk Fort Myers mom arrested after passing out behind the wheel with her baby in the car
FORT MYERS, Fla. — A Fort Myers woman was arrested for driving under the influence with a baby in the car early Wednesday morning, officials said.
Officers with the Fort Myers Police Department responded to the intersection of Colonial Boulevard and Evans Avenue after someone reported that a woman had passed out behind the wheel.
NBC2 crews saw officers conducting a field sobriety test on Jessica Steele, 34. Shortly after, she was put into handcuffs.
Steele is accused of driving drunk with a baby improperly secured in the back seat, possessing synthetic marijuana, and possessing drug equipment, according to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office.
A family member arrived to take custody of the baby and the Florida Department of Children and Families was notified, officers said.
