On Saturday, deputies arrested a man for doing donuts in the parking lot of the Charlemagne Plaza off Rattlesnake Hammock Road.
“It’s definitely not very smart,” said Naples resident Cynthia Powell. “It’s very dangerous, it’s very risky.”
Collier County Sheriff’s Deputies were out patrolling when they saw 39-year-old Julio Angel Alvarado doing donuts in the parking lot.
We don’t have a mugshot for him because he is either currently, or at one time, in the Air Force. Those mugshots are protected under Florida law.
Alvarado tried explaining himself to deputies – He told them he was doing donuts for a Facebook video.
That’s when deputies noticed his bloodshot eyes and the alcohol smell coming from his breath.s.
Once at the jail, he blew a .211 BAC, which is nearly three times the legal limit of .08 BAC.
“Quarantine finally got lifted a little bit so people are now on their wild side,” said Daniela Brooks of Naples. “But they’re not realizing the true danger they’re putting people in.”
Deputies arrested Alvarado on DUI charges. He’ll appear in court on July 22.
