Englewood resident offers deal to burglar if belongings are returned
ENGLEWOOD, Fla. — A man accused of stealing thousands of dollars in jewelry and precious metal from an Englewood woman was arrested on Monday.
Jason Hollada was arrested in Sarasota County.
He is one of two suspects that are accused of breaking into the Grafton Street home in the early morning hours of June 14, while the resident was sleeping.
Security camera video shows two men lurking around the home.
The resident said the burglars stole more than $50,000 worth of jewelry and precious metals from her. She also told NBC-2’s Gage Goulding that the tatted-up suspect is no stranger to the home.
“He and his girlfriend rented from me,” she said. “That’s the devastating thing.”
The couple only rented for less than a month before the victim asked them to leave, back in March.
While the resident is glad Hollada is booked into jail, she wishes his partner was caught as well.
“They took everything I have. Sterling silver baby cups. Julep cups. They got everything. Everything of any value.”
That was not all they took.
“They stole my piece of mind. To me, they’re lower than pond scum,” the victim said.
Even after finding Hollada, she says deputies haven’t been able to find any of her belongings. She’s offering Skinny, the partner in crime, a ‘get out of jail free card’.
“If Skinny brought me all of my things, I’d be willing not to press charges against him,” she said.
The victim says that Skinny has a better chance if he comes clean now, rather than try his luck with the law.
“Please Skinny, bring all my stuff back. Let me live in peace.”
Hollada is facing felony charges including burglary of an occupied burglary and grand theft from a person 65 or older of values more than $50,000.
He’s being held on $75,000 bond.
