Federal emergency aid made available to Florida ahead of Tropical Storm Elsa
WASHINGTON — Federal emergency aid has been made available to Florida to help with the emergency response of Tropical Storm Elsa.
President Joe Biden approved the action which allows FEMA to coordinate disaster relief efforts. FEMA officials will help prevent local suffering and hardships brought on by the tropical storm.
The FEMA assistance will be for Charlotte, Citrus, Collier, DeSoto, Hardee, Hernando, Hillsborough, Lee, Levy, Manatee, Miami-Dade, Monroe, Pasco, Pinellas, and Sarasota counties.
Seventy-five percent of mass care efforts like evacuation and shelter support will be reimbursed using federal funds.
