FGCU to sell beer and wine at sporting events
FORT MYERS, Fla. – Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU) will start selling beer and wine at home events on campus beginning this September.
According to a release from the college, fans 21-and-over will be able to purchase imported and domestic beers along with white and red wines.
Visitors will be able to grab a beer or wine at Alico Arena, Swanson Stadium, the FGCU Soccer Complex, the Softball Complex and on an individual event basis at the FGCU Tennis Complex, school officials announced.
“For over a decade, we have witnessed alcohol sales successfully managed at a number of our fellow Florida SUS institutions,” said Director of Athletics Ken Kavanagh said in the release. “Hence, we feel comfortable with this decision and believe that it will provide an opportunity to enhance the overall game-day experience for many of our fans. In turn, it will be done with procedures designed to maintain a safe and enjoyable environment for all of our spectators.”
FGCU officials said a two-drink limit will be in place per event for alcohol purchases. Service will end during the later stages of each event.
The first scheduled home sporting event in September is Men’s Soccer versus USF on September 2. Click here to see more scheduled events at the college.
