“Firecracker!” – Cape Coral man wakes neighbors by screaming & pretending to be a firework

CAPE CORAL, Fla. — A man protesting pyrotechnics was caught on a Cape Coral security system screaming around at 3 AM on Friday morning.

“Firecracker, firecracker, boom,” yelled the unidentified man.

People living on the Southeast 10th Avenue canal got an early Fourth of July show. It wasn’t one you could see, but you could definitely hear it.

“The dogs were barking and we go outside and this guy was screaming, I mean so loud,” said Sara Warnecke, whose security camera captured the screaming. “He seemed to be upset that people were celebrating early.”

All of this happened just before 3 AM; so she shouted back.

Guy Screaming: “Firecracker!”

Warnecke: “Shut up!”

Guy Screaming: “Bottle Rocket! Yeah it’s ******* annoying isn’t it? Quit ******* doing it in the middle of the night.”

Fireworks are legal in Florida on only three days and the Fourth of July is one of them.

“Pretending to be a firework is also going to run afoul of our noise ordinance,” said Master Corporal Phil Mullen of the Cape Coral Police Department.

CCPD responded to six different firework related calls on June 27-28.

Warnecke has a theory on why this guy was putting on his own display.

“He thought, last year probably, that I’m going to wake them up like they woke me up with the fireworks,” she said.

No one in the area wanted to claim credit for the screaming.

“Sleep, sleep,” yelled the mystery man. “Work in the AM.”
