Florida man facing life in prison for distribution of fentanyl resulting in deadly overdose

TAMPA, Fla.– A Florida man was found guilty of distribution of fentanyl resulting in death and possession with the intent to distribute fentanyl on Tuesday.

According to a release from the Department of Justice, Christopher A. Defilippis faces a mandatory sentence of life in prison because of his previous drug convictions. His hearing will be held in September.

Defilippis dealt heroin in Hillsborough County between March and April 2020, according to evidence presented at trial. He then distributed fentanyl that caused a fatal overdose.

When he was arrested, Defilippis had fentanyl and cocaine in his possession.
