Forecast: Easterly winds send stormy weather to the coast this afternoon
It’s a dry start to the morning with partly cloudy skies and high humidity at play. With easterly flow in place, showers and storms will develop inland and then track toward the coast.
Similar to Sunday, a few strong storms may produce briefly heavy rain, frequent lightning, and gusty conditions.
High humidity will allow highs in the low 90s to feel closer to the triple digits. Overnight lows remain seasonal falling back down into the mid to upper 70s.
Tropical Storm Nicholas is bringing heavy rain to the northwestern Gulf coast while an area of interest near the Bahamas has a medium chance of development over the next five days.
A tropical wave that is expected to come off the coast of Africa in the coming days has a high chance of development.
There are no threats to southwest Florida at this time.
