Forecast: More flooding possible Friday with afternoon storms

Storms are set to roll back into Southwest Florida this afternoon, but instead of staying inland, today’s storms will build closer to the coast.

Like most summer days, the rain will hold off until the mid to late afternoon from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m., and some of those storms could linger beyond sunset tonight.

With several communities still waterlogged from the rain we picked up from Elsa, localized flooding will be possible in neighborhoods that see the most rain.

On average, rainfall amounts will range from half an inch to an inch, but some areas could see as much as 3-4″.

Before the rain begins, expect sunshine through the morning with plenty of heat and humidity as daytime highs soar into the low to mid-90s.

With the humidity factored in, the heat index will push into the triple digits during the heat of the day.

For the weekend, we’re in store for much of the same. Expect sunshine in the morning and then numerous showers and storms during the afternoon, particularly across Lee, Charlotte, and Collier County.
