Forecast: Storms roll in after lunchtime Tuesday

More rain. More rumbles.

That’s the weather story again today with numerous showers and storms spreading into Southwest Florida throughout the afternoon.

Rain chances today will be very high again, around 80%, particularly along the coast from Charlotte, Lee and Collier County.

Storms will produce pockets of heavy rain, lightning, gusty winds, and localized flooding will also be possible where the heaviest rain develops.

The main time frame for rain will be from 1 p.m. – 7 p.m., but some isolated areas of rain could linger beyond sunset tonight.

Expect mostly cloudy skies for most of the day with our best chance of sunshine coming during the morning as highs push into the upper 80s to lower 90s before rain develops.

It’s rinse and repeat Wednesday with perhaps a little less rain coverage Thursday, but plan on seeing showers and storms each day this week.

The 4th of July weekend won’t be quite as stormy as the storms build deeper inland during the afternoon.
