Fort Myers man seriously injured after crashing into tree off Buckingham Road

LEE COUNTY, Fla. — A 24-year-old Fort Myers man is in serious condition after slamming into a tree early Monday morning, officials said.

Troopers with the Florida Highway Patrol responded to the single-car crash on Buckingham Road and Alvin Avenue just after midnight on Monday.

The man was heading north on Alvin Avenue towards the intersection of Buckingham Road. He drove off the road and hit a tree, troopers said.

Rescue crews took the man to a local hospital to be treated for his serious injuries. He was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

Additional information about the crash is not known.
