HENDRY COUNTY, Fla. – A Hendry County deputy and another driver were injured in a crash on SR 29 and Park Avenue on Thursday.

The 59-year-old LaBelle man driving an SUV was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, Florida Highway Patrol confirmed. The Hendry County deputy was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

The SUV involved stopped at a stop sign on Park Avenue at the intersection of SR 29. Troopers said the Hendry County Sheriff’s Office patrol car was driving north on SR 29, approaching the intersection.

The SUV made a left turn into the southbound lanes of SR 29, moving into the path of the HCSO car. The deputy’s car hit the SUV, FHP said.
