Lehigh Acres man sentenced to 29 years for child porn

FORT MYERS, Fla. – A Lehigh Acres man was sentenced to 29 years in federal prison Tuesday after pleading guilty to charges stemming from a 2018 child porn arrest.

A tip led to the arrest of 33-year-old John Breen in 2018 after he was accused of sexually battering two young girls and posting pictures online.

According to court documents, the abuse went on between April 28 and July 20, 2018.

Deputies said Breen took eight pictures of the abuse and uploaded them to a website. His email and phone number were linked to the account.

According to his arrest report, investigators noted a rose tattoo on the suspect’s hand that appeared in the child porn pictures. Deputies said Breen has the same tattoo in the same location.

On December 13, 2019, law enforcement officers searched Breen’s Lehigh Acres home. In an interview, the 33-year-old admitted to sexually abusing a 7-year-old child at his home and taking pictures of the abuse with his cell phone.

The report said the blue interior wall color in his home was consistent with the background in the child porn pictures.

In one of the cases, the victim’s mother told deputies she caught Breen in bed with her daughter. The girl accused Breen of touching her inappropriately.

When the mother confronted him about the allegations, a report said he did not confirm or deny it but did confess to having a “problem with porn.”

The case was investigated by the FBI, and Fort Myers Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Task Force, officials said.

Breen was charged with sex assault, molestation and cruelty toward a child by promoting a sexual performance by a child.

He was also sentenced to a lifetime of supervised release and ordered to register as a sex offender.

Breen pled guilty to the charges August 19, 2020.
