Punta Gorda man seriously injured in rollover crash
CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. — A 30-year-old Punta Gorda man was seriously injured in a rollover crash on Thursday evening, officials said.
Troopers with the Florida Highway Patrol responded to the crash on US-41 at Madrid Boulevard around 6:17 p.m. They said the 30-year-old man was heading south on 41 when he lost control of the SUV.
The SUV swerved into the median and flipped into a nearby ditch, troopers said. The driver was not wearing a seatbelt and was thrown from the car as it flipped.
Rescue crews took the man to a local hospital to be treated for his serious injuries.
Three other passengers — a 30-year-old Punta Gorda woman, 6-year-old boy, and 7 year-old girl — were wearing their seatbelts and suffered only minor injuries, troopers said.
