Six people seriously injured in single van crash on I-75

LEE COUNTY, Fla. — Three adults and three children suffered serious injuries in a crash on Interstate 75 near the Corkscrew Exit, officials said.

Troopers with the Florida Highway Patrol arrived to the scene of the single van crash around 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

An investigation found that the 33-year-old Miami woman driving the van was heading north on I-75 towards Corkscrew Road and lost control of the vehicle, troopers said.

The van swerved off the road and flipped in the grass shoulder, troopers said.

The driver, along with a 28-year-old man, 15-year-old girl, 8-year-old girl, 4-year-old boy, and 54-year-old woman — all from Miami — were taken to nearby hospitals with serious injuries.

Everyone in the van was wearing their seatbelt at the time of the crash.
