Woman walking dog on golf cart partially amputates finger

CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. — An 81-year-old woman was taken to the hospital after she partially amputated her finger while walking her dog, officials said. The woman was walking her dog while driving her golf cart on Holly Road just after 8 a.m. on Monday morning, a spokesperson for Charlotte County Fire and EMS said. Punta Gorda man seriously injured in rollover crash

CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. — A 30-year-old Punta Gorda man was seriously injured in a rollover crash on Thursday evening, officials said. Troopers with the Florida Highway Patrol responded to the crash on US-41 at Madrid Boulevard around 6:17 p.m. They said the 30-year-old man was heading south on 41 when he lost control of the SUV. The SUV swerved into the median and flipped into a nearby ditch, troopers said. The driver was not wearing a seatbelt and was thrown from the car as it flipped. CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. — A sea turtle nest in Charlotte County hatched recently, and county officials were lucky enough to capture the moment the hatchlings rushed to the water. The video shows the sea turtles crawl out of their nest and race towards the safety of the sea. Florida is home to many species of sea turtles. Charlotte County declares local state of emergency ahead of Elsa

CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. – Charlotte County leaders declared a local state of emergency ahead of Tropical Storm Elsa. County leaders passed the declaration unanimously. They will not be issuing orders on storm shelters yet, however, there are two shelters on standby if they need to open. Local law enforcement sees rise in catalytic converter thefts

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. – Local law enforcement officials are reporting a rise in catalytic converter thefts. A van for adults with disabilities in Port Charlotte is now out of service after its catalytic converter was stolen.
