KEY WEST, Fla. (AP) — The Coast Guard on Saturday ended the search for nine Cubans missing from a boat that capsized off Florida’s coast. The search encompassed more than 7,400 square miles over 192 hours since the capsized boat was reported Tuesday about 26 miles southeast of Key West. 27 rescued from waters near Key West as Tropical Storm Elsa passed by

MONROE COUNTY, Fla. — Nine people are missing in the waters south of Key West after Tropical Storm Elsa passed by on Tuesday, officials said. At least 15 people were rescued on Tuesday, the United States Coast Guard announced in a tweet. Boaters pulled two people from the waters about 23 miles off the coast of Key West around 4 p.m. and alerted the Coast Guard, officials said. Coast Guard sets Key West port conditions ahead of Elsa

MIAMI, Fla. – The Coast Guard Captain of the Port for Key West set port condition Zulu for the Port of Key West ahead of Tropical Storm Elsa. The decision was made due to expected sustained gale force winds of 35 mph and gusts up to 45 mph. Man flown to hospital after boat crash off Sanibel Island

SANIBEL, Fla. – A man was injured after a boat crash west of Sanibel Island on Thursday. The Coast Guard confirmed a helicopter air crew medevaced an 83-year-old man after two boats crashed just 30 miles west of the island. Coast Guard crews said the man was taken Tampa General Hospital with a leg injury and transferred him to awaiting emergency medical services. Fishermen find half a ton of cocaine floating off Algerian coast

ORAN, Algeria / CNN — Algerian authorities have seized half a ton of cocaine that was found floating off the country’s coast, after fishermen in the area raised the alarm. The fishermen found and reported suspicious bags floating in the water near Oran, a port city in the North African country, on Saturday night, according to a press release from Algeria’s Ministry of Defense.
