Man steals credit card, spends $1,400 in Lee County stores

LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. – A man stole someone’s credit card and spent over $1,400 at a local gas station and Walmart on Wednesday. Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers said they are looking for the man involved in the credit card fraud and grant theft case. The suspect stole the victim’s credit card at an Olive Garden in Cape Coral. Crime Stoppers said fraudulent transactions were made at RaceTrac in North Fort Myers and the Walmart on Lee Boulevard in Lehigh Acres. Police officer fired after faking report to get out of a meeting

FRYEBURG, Maine (AP)– A former police officer managed to get out of a meeting but it cost him his job. As reported by the AP, a law enforcement oversight board made the choice to revoke Fryeburg Police Chief Joshua Potvin’s license after it was discovered that he faked a suspicious person report so he could get out of a meeting. WANTED: Woman promising ‘witchcraft services’ steals $100K from victims in Naples

NAPLES, Fla. – A mysterious woman named Rosalia advertised around Golden Gate and East Naples, promising to solve relationship problems using “witchcraft services,” according to police. Instead, she reportedly swindled more than $100,000 combined from at least 10 victims using —not magic— but an elaborate and disturbing scheme, the Naples Police Department reported. Tampa man sentenced after posing as immigration attorney

TAMPA, Fla.– Elvis Harold Reyes, 56, was sentenced to 20 years and 9 months in federal prison for mail fraud and aggravated identity theft, on Monday. According to court documents, Reyes was pretending to be an attorney, targeting undocumented immigrants from Spanish speaking countries. He has never been a licensed immigration attorney. The victims were seeking Florida drivers licenses and work authorization. Reyes tricked them into paying for his services by giving them inaccurate legal information according to officials.
