CAPE CORAL, Fla. — Major changes are in effect for cold blooded pets.
The new rules from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission impacts pet owners and pet stores. The new rules are aimed at protecting the state’s native species from the invasive ones.
A popular pet that this rule impacts is the green iguana. The lizards are considered to be invasive in Florida and owners must have a permit and the animal must be microchipped. Permitting is free through FWC.
