COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. — Sand dunes help protect your home from coastal flooding and now they’re getting a facelift.
The Naples Botanical Garden and City of Naples are teaming up to replace the aged sand dunes ahead of hurricane season.
Sand dunes provide a natural barrier between the sea and shore with the most notable protections being against storm surge and coastal flooding. They’re also a critical habitat for wildlife like shorebirds, turtles, insects and crabs.
