LEE COUNTY, FLa. — A former Lee County deputy accused of killing his son claims he was in fear of his life, court records show.
Sergio Perez told officials that he had to choke his son, Ramon Perez, because he feared for his life. He said his son was verbally and physically attacking him.

The incident happened at Sergio’s mother’s house, where Ramon was living at the time. Sergio feared that his son would harm his grandmother as well.
Perez will appear in court on May 4.
