Spectators not allowed at Tokyo Olympics
TOKYO, Japan / CNN — Venues for the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, Japan will not allow spectators. Japanese Prime Minister Yoshide Suga said the Games would take place under a coronavirus state of emergency. The announcement was made after five Olympic and Japanese government groups met to discuss the upcoming Olympics. Seiko Hashimoto with the Japanese Olympic Committee said, “A very heavy judgment was made.” Hashimoto said due to the pandemic, they have “no choice but to hold the Games in a limited way.”
