Teen arrested in accidental shooting that killed 16-year-old girl in Englewood
ENGLEWOOD, Fla. – A teen was arrested for the accidental shooting that killed a 16-year-old girl in Englewood.
The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office said 17-year-old Hayden Wick was arrested for manslaughter with a firearm and possession of a firearm by a minor. The shooting happened on Euler Avenue on March 31.
The shooting killed 16-year-old Autumn Higgs. Charlotte County deputies said during their initial investigation, they determined the gun was fired accidentally by Wick.
Th sheriff’s office investigated the incident and sent the findings of the investigation to the State Attorney’s Office for review. Prosecutors did find probable cause to issue a warrant for Wick’s arrest on June 8.
Wick was placed in custody by Charlotte County deputies and taken to jail.
